Year 7
and 8
In Years 7 and 8,
pupils are taught in mixed ability groups as we feel that some pupils
who find mathematics difficult can improve their ability and
understanding by working with more able pupils at this age. Moreover all
pupils of all abilities work to a standard that is individually suitable
to them. The more able pupils will have extension work set, usually of
an investigative nature.
Year 9
In Year 9 we set the groups, so that we have 2
groups of equal ability and 1 small group of pupils who find mathematics
difficult. They usually stay in their groups for three years up to the
GCSE examinations.
In all Years, we use ST(P) Mathematics books by
L.Bostock, S.Chandler, A.S.Shepherd and E.Smith, which are ordered in
advance for the girls.
