The Mount School was founded by Mary McGregor in 1925 in Highgate and moved to Mill Hill in 1935. Miss McGregor's aim was to found a school where the personalities of the children could develop along wide and individual lines and where a true love of learning for its own sake could be fostered. The school motto is 'Esse quam videri' - 'to be rather than to seem to be'.

Headmistress:
Mrs J Kirsten Jackson BSc MA

We are a community of 400 girls aged 4 - 18. There are 100 girls aged 4 - 11 and 300 aged 11 -18. This wide age range helps foster the family atmosphere of the school. We have a reputation for being a caring and friendly school and we work hard to make sure that this is well founded. We are particularly good at catering for quiet, sensitive, able girls and girls who are willing to participate fully in school life. In return we offer small classes, lots of support and a wide range of co-curricular activities. We provide a well rounded academic environment for girls to develop their full potential, balancing intellectual growth with physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, creative and moral growth, enabling them to make positive contributions as good citizens in all realms of their future lives.
All faiths are represented at the school and we value this opportunity for spiritual growth. We worship together and learn to understand and respect one another's cultures, as well as deepening our understanding of our own.
