Message from the Head
The Mount School has grown
tremendously since its establishment in the front room of a family house
in Highgate. The facilities we now enjoy would have been unimaginable
to that first handful of pupils, but we know that there is far more we
need to do.
We are appealing to you to help us
ensure our pupils receive the very best education for life in the 21st
century. With your help we can provide future generations of Mount
School girls with the environment and facilities they deserve. Your
donation will mean that children in the future can enjoy the benefits of
this successful and friendly school, and that the Mount School family
will continue to grow.
We hope to give our pupils the best
environment and facilities for their learning, but there is much we
need:
·
New Junior block and
senior classrooms so our pupils can study in the kind of environment
their hard work and determination deserve. The new buildings will
incorporate modern technology to ensure the high quality of teaching at
the Mount is used to its full advantage and every girl’s potential for
learning is reached.
·
New sports facilities so
our pupils can enjoy a wider range of activities in all weathers.
·
A venue for performing
arts so that our pupils can learn in a professional environment and
perform to large audiences.
·
Development of the
school grounds to give our pupils a place they can relax as well as
learn and a school they can be proud of.
We are proud of
the Mount and with your help we can continue giving our pupils the very
best start in life. This is an exciting time for the school and
everybody in our school community can play a part by contributing in
whatever way they can.

How
to Give to our Appeal
Ways you can donate
Such an ambitious
development as this has so many rewards but not without its costs. We
are therefore asking all members of the school community – current
parents, new parents, past pupils, family of past pupils, staff, retired
staff, suppliers and anyone else connected with the school to contribute
in whatever way they can.
We hope that you
will be able to contribute by:
- Giving a
one off donation – please ensure you
gift aid if you are eligible
- Setting up a
standing order to contribute on a
monthly basis – please ensure you gift aid if you are eligible.

Other methods of
donating are also welcomed and further details of these can be obtained
from the school Bursary on 080 8959 3403 or e-mailing
fundappeal@mountschool.com.
-
Business donations
– a donation by a business is treated as tax free
- A
legacy gift – a bequest via your
will
-
Payroll Giving
– a tax effective way for our own staff and others to donate via
their employer
- Donation of
shares or securities
We are aware that
parents, pupils, staff, old girls, suppliers and others have different
interests in the school. The advantage of this development is that it
will offer improved facilities and opportunities to everyone involved in
the school. You can be assured your donation will be used to its best
advantage as this ambitious development progresses.
We hope that you become part of this exciting development in The Mount
School’s history by contributing in whatever way you can.
Your
Contribution Matters
The value of your donation
Your donation is
very important to us. If you are a tax payer and you Gift Aid your
donation, it is worth even more. If you are a higher rate tax payer and
you Gift Aid your donation not only shall we greatly benefit but you
will be able to claim higher rate tax relief through your annual tax
return. Please pay us the amount before tax relief i.e. to donate £100
you need to pay us £100 and claim the rest back via your tax return,
rather than the £76.92. The following calculations are based on 22%
basic rate tax and 40% higher rate tax.
See how much your
donation is worth to us:

A Gift Aid
donation, with higher rate tax relief claimed, would cost £77 per month.
With this the school could raise nearly £7,700 over 5 years – a real
boost to our campaign.
If everyone in the school community made a Gift Aided
one off donation of £1,560
(before higher rate tax relief)
or a monthly donation of £26 for 5 years
(before higher rate tax relief )
the school could raise
£3 million pounds!
Please don’t leave it to others.
We really need everyone to help in whatever way they can.
