Extra Curricular Orchestras, Choirs, Bands and Ensembles
There is a rich musical life in the school with a wide range of organised musical groups on offer. These are open to all players, whether they learn in school or elsewhere. If you would like to join any of the ensembles listed below, please contact the Director of Music.
Orchestras/Bands
Junior Orchestra
This is open to wind, string and brass players in years 0 – 6. Rehearses from 1.10 – 1.40 p.m. on Mondays in the Junior music room. Beginners to Grade 3.
Visiting Instrumental teachers
Senior Orchestra
For string, wind and brass players Grade 3 and above. Rehearses from 1.15 - 2.00 p.m. on Monday lunchtimes in the main music room. It tackles works from the standard orchestral repertoire and recently performed Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev in our Summer Concert 2008.
Senior Wind Band
For woodwind and brass players in the Senior school, Grade 3 +. Rehearses from 1.15 – 2.00 p.m. on Wednesdays in the main music room.
Choirs
Junior Choir
For girls in years 4 – 6. This choir rehearses from 1.10 – 1.40 p.m. on Wednesdays and undertakes a wide range of choral repertoire in up to three parts. They perform in termly concerts, on open days and other school events.
Middle School Choir
This is for Year 7 and 8 students and focuses on lighter repertoire with an emphasis on unison and 2 – 3 part singing.

Rehearsals currently take place from 1.15 to 2 p.m. on Friday Lunchtime and the choir perform in the termly concerts, on open days, in assembly and other school events. Carol singing in the local community is also offered at the end of the Autumn term. Choral repertoire is highly varied and includes both accompanied and A Cappella works.
Senior Choir
This is open to girls in Year 9 and above and tackles more challenging repertoire by both contemporary and classical composers in up to four parts.It rehearses from 1.15 – 2.00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

In 2007, members of the Senior and Middle School choirs undertook a Choral tour to Salzburg, Austria where they participated in the Mid-Europe festival. Another tour is planned for 2010.

The Senior Choir has performed in the local community and other in house events such as the annual whole school Carol Service at St. Michael and All Angels church, Mill Hill.

Music and Drama
Links between the Music and Drama departments are strong and there have been many splendid collaborative productions over the last five years including, “Oliver”, “Bugsy Malone”, “Annie” and “Alice through the Looking Glass”.

These productions have been open to all students from Years 0 and above and auditions are held in order to cast fairly.
