Welcome to the Modern Foreign Languages Department







Three languages are taught at The Mount School: French, Spanish and Japanese.
We use the Edexcel examining board for all three languages.
French
All girls are taught French from Year 0 to Year 9.  At the end of Year 9 pupils choose their options and can study French to GCSE.
Spanish
All girls in Years 8 and 9 study Spanish as their second language.  At the end of Year 9 they can choose to study either Spanish or French to GCSE.
Japanese
Japanese is taught in the Junior school to Years 4, 5 and 6.  Japanese is also offered at GCSE to native speakers.

Regular Cultural Visits
A five day residential cultural visit to Barcelona is offered to Years 9, 10 and 11 in the Spring term.

A five day residential cultural visit to Paris is offered to Years 9 and 10 in the Summer term.

A day trip to Boulogne is organised for years 4, 5 and 6 on alternative years.
