Choirs, Bands and Ensembles |
| There is a rich musical life in
the school with a wide range of organised musical
groups on offer. These are open to all players,
whether they learn in school or elsewhere. If you
would like to join any of the ensembles listed below,
please contact the Director of Music. |
| Orchestras/Bands |
String Orchestra
For string players, mostly Grade 3 and above. Rehearses with Mrs. Emanuel from 1.15 – 1.45 p.m. on Wednesday lunchtimes in Room 45. It tackles a range of music, with the emphasis on string ensemble skills. |
Senior Orchestra
For string, wind and brass players
Grade 3 and above. Rehearses from 1.15 - 2.00 p.m.
on Monday lunchtimes in the main music room. It
tackles works from the standard orchestral repertoire
and recently performed Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev
in our Summer Concert 2008. |
Middle School Band
For players of all standards in Years 6-8 at around Grade 3 standard. Rehearses with Mr. Wilson from 1.15 – 1.45 p.m. on Wednesdays in the music practice room near the Dining Room. |
| Choirs |
Junior Choir
For girls in years 4 – 5. This choir rehearses with Miss Bausor from 1.10 – 1.40 p.m. on Wednesdays in the main music room and undertakes a wide range of choral repertoire. They perform in termly concerts, on open days and other school events. |
Middle School Choir
This is for Year 6 and 7 students and focuses on lighter repertoire with an emphasis on unison and 2 part singing.
Rehearsals take place with Mr. Wilson from 1.15 to 1.45 p.m. on Thursdays and the choir performs in the termly concerts, on open days, in assembly and other school events. Carol singing in the local community is also offered at the end of the Autumn term. Choral repertoire is highly varied. |
Senior Choir
This is open to girls in Year 8 and above and tackles more challenging repertoire by both contemporary and classical composers in up to four parts. It rehearses with Mr. Wilson from 1.15 – 1.45 p.m. on Mondays in the main music room.
In 2007, members of the Senior and Middle School choirs undertook a Choral tour to Salzburg, Austria where they participated in the Mid-Europe festival. It is hoped to repeat this experience in the future.
The Senior Choir has performed in the local community and other events such as the annual whole school Carol Service. |

| Music and Drama |
| Links between the Music and Drama departments are strong and there have been many splendid collaborative productions over the last five years including, “Oliver”, “Bugsy Malone”, “Annie” and “Alice through the Looking Glass”. We are currently working on “The Lion King”. |
