House System

Every pupil (Year 0 to Year 13) and every member of staff is a member of one of four houses. Siblings are allocated to the same house:

Green (Curie)
Yellow (Nightingale)
Red (Austen)
Blue (Radcliffe)

The House System started in the Summer Term 2005, so is still in its infancy. The premise is that the girls (& Staff!) will compete in events organised throughout the year and gain points for their house. The winning house will be awarded the House Cup at the end of the year.

Events carried out Autumn Term 2008/9 were:

Science Challenge Week

Maths Quiz

Spelling Competition

Music Competition

Junior Swimming Gala

Sports Day

Events planned for 2009 are:

House Bonding Event

Stall / Charity Event linked to Bazaar

The intention is that the competitions above and many more will be spread out throughout the school year and encourage pupils' team spirit and involvement in school life.

In addition to the quizzes and competitions, the girls in years 0 to 7 obtain House Points (Merits) for exceptional pieces of work and good effort. Girls in years 8 to 11 are awarded commendations. These points are collated each week and count towards the running total of points for the House.
