A Message from the Headteacher

Welcome to The Mount School. From the very first day that I came to the School I knew I wanted to be part of this place. The sense of community was evident in all I saw and everyone I spoke to. We are a small community of staff and girls, where everyone feels they belong and where everyone is known as an individual.

Together as a team, we strive to achieve the best for the girls in our care. We are very proud of our School, with its multicultural, multifaith community.

We would be delighted if you would come and see our School, to experience what those of us here know as the joy of belonging to The Mount School. Please come along to one of our Open Mornings or make an appointment for a personal visit by telephoning the School office.

History and Ethos of The Mount School

The Mount School was founded by Mary Macgregor in 1925. From those humble beginnings in a private house in Highate Village, the school has grown into a flourishing community of over 300 girls without losing the intimacy and inclusiveness that has made The Mount a success.

Miss Macgregor’s aim was to found a school where the personalities of the girls could develop along wide and individual lines and where a true love of learning for its own sake could be fostered. The caring and nurturing environment continues to this day.
